Heather F. Harper is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Law and the supervising attorney for the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic at Chicago-Kent College of Law. She teaches Entrepreneurship Law and serves as the legal adviser to the Interprofessional Projects Program (IPRO) at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT).
Esther Barron is a Clinical Associate Professor of Law and Director of the Entrepreneurship Law Center at Northwestern University School of Law. In addition to her clinical work, she teaches Entrepreneurship Law and Venture Capital.
In this video Heather and Esther discuss the importance of choosing a corporate structure that makes the most sense for a startup, based on its founders’ individual goals. Their presentation helps entrepreneurs avoid the mistakes they’ve seen throughout their years of experience working with startups. For example, it can be a headache (and quite expensive) to start as an LLC then switch when investors come along.
